Hi ELs,

I always look forward to seeing and meeting so many of you at the Annual Convention every year.  Below is a schedule of activities related to leadership in the arts that will be taking place at the Convention.

If you are unable to attend Convention this year, there are still ways to engage with the conversation!  Follow ARTSblog for Convention updates at http://blog.artsusa.org/tag/annual-convention/.  New this year – We are also recording the professional development sessions at Convention.  You can find out more about Convention On-Demand here.

For those of you attending, please say hello to me at the following events!

  • Thursday, June 16
    9pm – 11pm:  Emerging Leader Mixers – sign-ups will be in Center Stage all day on Wednesday and Thursday.  Stop by and sign up to attend one of five mixers with an Emerging Leader Council member and other colleagues
  •  Friday, June 17
    8:30am – 10am:  Emerging Leader Peer Networking – This is a conversation you won’t want to miss.  The Emerging Leaders Council has planned a dynamic discussion where we will work together to highlight new ideas and emerging trends in the field.  This session will be the beginning of an initiative that will conclude with a Blog Salon in late July.

    10:30am – 12:00pm:  Demystifying Professional Development:  Benefits of Classroom vs. On the Job Learning – I’m really looking forward to this conversation with two of my favorite leaders in the field:  Ramona Baker and Letitia Ivins

     2:30pm – 4:00pm:  Career, Organization, & Community360 and One-to-One Coaching – We have expanded this popular series of roundtables and one-on-one conversations to include new conversations around community and the arts, and have more opportunities for you to participate in one-on-one coaching.  Stop by Center Stage early on Thursday to make sure you get a coaching or consulting slot if you want one!  Roundtable conversations will not require advance sign-up.

    6:45 – 8:30pm:  Emerging Leader Reception – The reception is located at Alexander Salazar Fine Art in the heart of San Diego’s Gaslamp District.  Members of the Emerging Leaders Council will be in the lobby of the Hilton San Diego Bayfront with walking maps.  The gallery is about a 15 minute walk from the hotel.  Cabs will also be available if needed.  The Emerging Leaders Reception was made possible with the generous support of the University of Oregon.

  •  Saturday, June 18
    8:30am – 10am:  Migrating from Arts Leader to Community Leader – Make sure you stick around for this session!  It’s one I’ve been looking forward to all year, and will make you think differently about your role as arts administrator.
    10:30am – 11am:  One-to-One Coaching – We’re expanding this popular piece of our convention, but sign up early!  The slots are limited and will go fast.
